Drain cleaning and sewer service

Cabling clears the clog. The camera tells you why it happened. We do both, so you stop paying for the same problem twice.

Any drain company can make water go down today. The question worth paying for is why it stopped, because a clog is a symptom. Roots at a joint, a belly holding water, grease narrowing the line, or a break letting soil in all clear the same with a cable, and all come back on their own schedule.

This is why we offer a sewer camera. Once the line is open, we can run video, locate any defect from the surface, and show you the footage. If the line is healthy and the clog was honest bad luck, you will know that too, and you will not get an upsell.

For heavy grease and scale, hydro jetting scours the pipe wall back to full diameter, which cabling cannot do. For lines with real damage, we price repair options from spot fixes to full replacement, in writing.

Common questions

Asked and answered

Why does my clog keep coming back?

Because the cause is still in the pipe. Roots, bellies, offset joints and breaks re-catch everything that passes. This is especially common in the pre-1970s housing stock of Homewood, Mountain Brook and Bessemer, where original cast iron and clay sewer laterals are at the end of their design life. A camera inspection after clearing shows exactly what is down there, on screen while we are on site.

Jetting or cabling, which do I need?

Cabling cuts a path through a blockage and restores flow. Hydro jetting cleans the pipe wall back to its full diameter with high pressure water. Light blockage or a single fixture, cable. Grease, scale or heavy root intrusion in the main line, jet. We recommend from what the camera shows, not from a price menu.

Is a sewer scope worth it when buying a house?

It is the cheapest insurance in real estate. A full sewer lateral replacement in this market can rival a roof in cost, and a scope with recorded video removes the mystery before you sign. If you are buying a home on septic instead of sewer, pair it with a look at the tank itself, which our septic tank service covers.

Tree roots keep getting into my line. Is cutting them enough?

Cutting restores flow, but roots re-enter through the same joints and grow back on roughly an annual cycle, and every intrusion point is also a leak point. The lasting fixes are spot repair of the failed joints or lining or replacing the run. We show you the intrusion points on camera and price the permanent options next to the maintenance option so you can decide with real numbers.

Sewage is coming up in my tub. Is that a drain problem or a septic problem?

Backup at the lowest fixture means the main line is blocked downstream, and on a septic property the tank itself may be the cause. Because we are licensed for both plumbing and septic, we check the line and the tank on the same visit instead of guessing from the driveway, which is the difference between one service call and two.
